If there’s one bracelet that sums up what Boing is about, it’s this one. Our sailing rope bracelets are where it all started, handmade in Cornwall, from proper working rope, built for people who actually use them.
They’re not decorative pieces that need careful handling. They’re designed to go everywhere with you, in the sea, on the hills, at the pub, and in the office. Clean lines, honest materials, and a fit that’s made specifically for your wrist. Here’s everything worth knowing about them.
We source most of our sailing rope from UK manufacturers. It helps that we’re on an island, British rope-making heritage is genuinely world-class, and there’s something fitting about a Cornwall-made bracelet using rope that’s travelled no further than it needs to.
Sailing rope is built for precision and reliability in tough conditions, the kind where a failure isn’t just inconvenient. That means a tight, clean braid with excellent resistance to UV, salt water, and general wear. On your wrist, that translates to a bracelet that holds its shape and colour well, feels smooth and comfortable, and doesn’t deteriorate with regular use.
This isn’t decorative rope dressed up as sailing rope. It’s the real thing.
Sailing rope bracelets are made for water. You can wear them in the sea, in the pool, or in the shower without the rope suffering for it. The one thing worth keeping in mind is the clasp, the magnet inside can corrode if it’s regularly exposed to salt water without a rinse afterwards. A quick wash with fresh water takes about five seconds and keeps everything in good shape.
Beyond that, there’s very little maintenance involved. The rope holds its colour well and doesn’t fray or soften in the way softer materials might. Over time it settles into a comfortable fit, but it doesn’t change shape or lose its structure.
The honest answer is: however you like. Sailing rope bracelets have a clean, unfussy look that works across a wide range of outfits without trying too hard.
With a wetsuit or board shorts on the beach, they’re at home. With a shirt and chinos for a casual evening out, they add a bit of texture without looking out of place. Some people even wear them with a suit; a single Skinny bracelet against a white shirt cuff is a subtle but effective touch.
If you want to stack, a couple of Skinnies in complementary colours work well together. Or mix a sailing rope bracelet with a leather one for a combination that’s a bit more varied. There’s no wrong way to do it — just wear what feels right.
Every Boing bracelet is handmade to order in Bude. We’re not a factory; each bracelet is made individually, polished, and quality checked before it goes out.
We work closely with a Cornwall precision engineering company to make our stainless steel clasps, and we use UK rope manufacturers where possible. It’s a genuinely local product, unlike most things sold as ‘handmade’.
You can, yes. The rope itself is designed for marine conditions and handles salt water without any trouble. It’s worth giving the clasp a rinse with fresh water afterwards, though, as salt water can corrode the magnet inside over time. Takes seconds and keeps everything working properly.
Use a soft tape measure or a strip of paper wrapped around your wrist, sitting where you’d normally wear a bracelet. You can learn more about our sizing guide here. If you’re between sizes or unsure, get in touch, and we’ll help you work it out before you order.
